We have been fortunate enough to obtain a limited number of cabins on a Long Cruise aboard the S/S Misr.  We will travel with our own guide, Medhat Saad, throughout, and we will have our own private excursions ashore. Day 1 – Thursday 11th May 2017
Fly London to Cairo with EgyptAir and on arrival  take our private AWT transfer straight to our cruiser the S/S Misr for ten nights on full board basis. (D)

Day 2 – Cairo
An early start as we head to the Giza Plateau to visit the Pyramids. Plenty of time to walk the site on our guided tour. There will be time to purchase an optional ticket on site to enter a Pyramid and visit the Boat Museum for those who wish. We also visit the Valley temple and the mighty Sphinx. After lunch we head off to the Egyptian Museum and take special care to view artefacts from wonderful sites that we will visit during the course of the cruise. (BLD)

Day 3 – Sailing
We head away from the city and sail to Beni Suef. A day to relax, take breakfast at leisure and enjoy the comforts of the Misr. A spell on the sundeck, a dip in the pool or stay in the air conditioned lounge and read, the choice is yours. (BLD)

Day 4 – Dahshur and Meidum
An exciting day as we head to some remote pyramids. First to the Red and Bent Pyramids of Dahshur with time to enter the Red Pyramid for those who wish. Then to Meidum  with its spectacular pyramid and the fascinating ‘Mastaba 17’. The adventurous can enter the pyramid to explore the burial chamber and there will be time to enter the mastaba tomb via the ancient ‘robbers’ tunnel. (BLD)

Day 5 – Sailing to Minya
Another truly relaxing day as we sail to Minya with plenty of time to relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery and birdlife along the river banks as we pass the towns and villages on our way to Middle Egypt. (BLD)

Day 6 – Tuna el-Gebel
An early start as we head to Beni Hassan to admire the beautifully decorated tombs of the local governors of the 11th and 12th Dynasties. After a relaxing lunch on Misr we take an afternoon excursion to the late Graeco-Roman necropolis at Tuna el-Gebel where we view the unusually decorated tomb of Petosiris and the vast baboon and Ibis catacombs and the ‘Roman’ well. We also see the best preserved of Akhet-Aten’s boundary Stelae. (BLD)

Day 7 – Tell El Amarna
During the course of our morning in Amarna at the city of Akhenaten and Nefertiti we will drive into the Royal Wadi and enter the Royal Tomb, view the Southern and Northern Tombs, the central city and the Northern Palace. We return to Misr for lunch and sail for Asyut where we moor for the night. (BLD)

Day 8 – Sail to Sohag
Another day on the Nile sailing south enjoying the spectacular views from the comfort of our cruiser. Today we plan a tour of the Misr’s engine room and the superb kitchens. (BLD)

Day 9 – Mystical Abydos
Today we visit Abydos to view some of the finest reliefs in Egypt and the famous ‘King List’ carved on the walls in the Temple of Seti I. We walk out to the Osireion, regarded as the burial place of Osiris and then we cross the desert sands to the Temple of Ramesses II. Here we see  scenes from the Battle of Kadesh on the outer walls and well preserved colourful reliefs within the temple itself. We return to the Misr for lunch and sail on to Qena via the Nag Hammadi Bridges. (BLD)

Day 10 – Temple of Hathor
After breakfast we drive to Dendera Temple to enter the Ptolemaic Temple of Hathor. A chance to view the beautiful cleaned and restored walls and ceilings in this vast temple. Time to enter the crypt for those who wish and  admire the relief of Cleopatra with her son Caesearion. View the rooftop sanctuaries, the mamissi, the ruined Coptic Basilica and the Sacred Lake. We return to Misr and continue sailing to Luxor. On arrival in Luxor in the late afternoon we have a guided tour of Luxor temple and this will be followed by cocktails at the Old Winter Palace. Day 11 – Sunday 21st May
This morning we take our private transfer to Luxor Airport for the homebound flight via Cairo. (B)
Alternatively why not stay on in Luxor for some extra nights at the Old Winter Palace Garden Pavilion. A chance to catch up on all the latest openings and events in Luxor. Our representatives will be there to assist so why not call for a quote.
