We fl y London to Luxor with EgyptAir and on arrival check-in to the Old Winter Palace Garden Pavilion for seven nights on room and breakfast basis. This historic fi rst-class hotel in the centre of Luxor has all the usual amenities.
Day 2 – West Bank Temples
We begin our tour with a look at some of the grandest temples on the West Bank. The quiet and rarely visited Temple of Seti I followed by the recently opened Temple of Merneptah with its fi ne museum makes a good start before heading for the larger and grander Ramesseum. The fallen colossus of Ramesses II, the Kadesh reliefs, courts and the Hypostyle Hall are all still surrounded by vast mud brick magazines. The well preserved gigantic Mortuary Temple of Ramesses I1I, Medinet Habu is second only in size to Karnak. Our last stop will be at the famous Colossi of Memnon. This evening there will be a reception party in the hotel with a chance to meet Kent Weeks himself. (B)
