TEMPLES AND TOMBS

Undoubtedly the best way to see many of the sites in and around Luxor is with a genuine expert in the field. We give you the major sites, many out of the way ones and a real Egyptologist.

 

Day 1 – London/Luxor

 

Fly London to Luxor with EgyptAir and transfer for seven night’s bed and breakfast at the Old Winter Palace Garden Pavilion.

  

 

 

Day 2 – Karnak/Museum

 

We start the tour with a thorough look at Karnak and its many temples, avenues, obelisks, courtyards and hidden corners. Later a visit to the exceptionally fi ne Luxor Museum. (B)

 

Day 3 – The West Bank

 

Our fi rst visit to the West Bank and a fascinating circuit of the Merneptah Temple and new museum, the Temple of Seti I with some very fi ne reliefs, the stunning tomb of Ramose and a good look at the Colossi of Memnon. (B)

 

Day 4 – The West Bank

 

Return to the West Bank to explore the Valley of the Queens, the hidden shrine of Ptah, the workmen’s village and tombs at Deir el Medina and the mighty fortress temple of Medinet Habu. This evening to the interesting mummifi cation museum. (B)

 

 

Day 5 – The West Bank

 

Today we cross to the West Bank for a special visit to the Valley of the Kings where we will investigate three tombs of your choice, visit the Tomb of the boy king Tutankhamun and also the rarely visited Tomb of Ay tucked away in the Western Valley. This afternoon we have included a relaxing felucca trip. (B) 

 

 

Day 6 – Dendera/Abydos

 

We travel from Luxor to the great temples of Dendera and Abydos with the fi nest reliefs in Upper Egypt. This evening we walk to Luxor temple. (B)

Day 7 – The West Bank

 

Our fi nal visit to the West Bank takes us to Deir el Bahri and the newly opened top terrace at Hatshepsut’s temple. Then we visit the astounding tombs at Asasif and the important tombs of Rekhmire and Sennefer. Finally to the Ramesseum. You can book our optional hot air balloon over Luxor on any day. (B)

 

Day 8 – Luxor/London

 

Fly from Luxor to London with EgyptAir and arrive early afternoon. (B)
