We will take an expert guide to focus on a variety of different themes and displays. The Department of Egyptian Antiquities presents the Nile Valley civilization from the late prehistoric to the Christian era and includes many very fi ne pieces indeed from the predynastic, through the Amarna and up to the Roman period.
The Department of Near Eastern Antiquities encompasses a period that extends from more than ten thousand years ago right up to the Islamic era. The museum also houses a very fi ne Islamic department which can be viewed at your own leisure later in the day if desired. The Greek, Etruscan and Roman Antiquities Department oversees works from the classical era, illustrating the art of a vast area that encompasses the whole of the Mediterranean basin, spanning a period that stretches from Neolithic times to the dark ages.
Our tour will not neglect to take in some of the vital and important art from other ages from the Venus de Milo to the Mona Lisa.
