Day 1 – London/Cairo
Fly London Heathrow to Cairo with EgyptAir and on arrival transfer to the Sofi tel Maadi for seven nights on room and breakfast basis. This fi rst-class hotel in the Maadi district has all usual amenities including restaurants, shops, a bank, and pool.
Day 2 – Cairo Museum
Today we will start with a tour of the Egyptian Museum visiting pieces that will relate to the week ahead as well as the treasures of Tutankhamun. We will continue to the el Hussein area of Cairo. This great square is in the bustling heart of the city and will give a fi rst feel of the excitement of Ramadan. (B)

Day 3 – The Giza Pyramids
A very full exploration of the Giza plateau, the main pyramids and some surrounding temples and tombs, the solar boat and the Sphinx complex. We have applied for permission to visit the fascinating Workmen's Village with an Egyptian archaeologist who will give us the latest news. (B)
Day 4 – Sakkara Necropolis
Today we visit Sakkara and the iconic step pyramid of Djoser as well as the lovely tombs of Kagemni and Mereruka. We will take four wheel drive vehicles for a special visit to South Sakkara, the further pyramid fi eld which is normally off limits. We will also enjoy the exhibits in the excellent new Imhotep Museum. (B) Cairo is known as the mother of the world and this outstanding tour covers a wealth of sites in the area in real detail and will also enjoy the atmosphere of the city during the great period of Ramadan.
Day 5 – Southern Pyramids
A rare opportunity to get off the beaten track so close to Cairo. We start at the pyramids of Dashur to view the Red and Bent pyramids, so much less crowded than mighty Giza. Then continue to rarely visited Zawyet el Aryan and the Middle Kingdom pyramid of Mazghuna. (B)

Day 6 – Three Abu's
A marvelous day as we visit the beautiful sun temple and pyramids at Abu Sir and Abu Ghurab in their remote and isolated setting. Our last visit of the day will be to the intriguing unfi nished pyramid at Abu Roash. (B)

Day 7 – Downtown
A different kind of day as we visit the fascinating Islamic Museum with many beautiful examples of pottery, calligraphy and glassware, and a couple of traditionally restored Ottoman Houses and stroll the streets of the old City. This evening we will visit a traditional Ramadan gathering with music, sweets, water pipes, and a tirelessly happy crowd. (B)
Day 8 – Cairo/London
After breakfast transfer to the airport for the EgyptAir fl ight to London arriving later that same day. (B)
