Day 1 – London/Luxor
Fly London to Luxor with EgyptAir and transfer to the first-class Garden Pavilion situated in the quiet gardens of the famous Old Winter Palace Hotel for six nights on a room and breakfast basis. |
Day 2 – Karnak
We start our tour with a visit to Karnak Temple and examine in detail the Precinct of Amun, the temple of Ptah with its beautiful Sekhmet statue, the temple of Khonsu and the Opet Temple and the little known chapel of Osiris. This evening there will be a visit to Luxor Museum. (B)
Day 3 – Montu
An unusual day as we visit two little temples on the East Bank both dedicated to Montu. We start at el Madamud whose romantic ruins lie strewn beside the cultivation. Continue to El Tod a fascinating and well decorated temple where we can examine the ancient quayside. This evening there will be a visit to Luxor Temple. (B)
Day 4 – Abydos
Today, Abydos and the great temple of Seti I, with superb reliefs and wonderful chapels dedicated to Ra, Osiris, Isis and others. We will also explore the mysterious Osireion and the rarely visited temple of Ramesses I I . We will overnight at the medium-class El Safa Hotel in Sohag and dine together. (BD)
Day 5 – Sohag
At the site of Akhmim we will investigate the cult of Min in more detail among the tombs and temples of this site and view the wonderful statue of Meryut Amun. On to the well preserved temple at Dendera, dedicated to Hathor. Return to Luxor and our hotel. (B)
Day 6 – West Bank
To the West Bank and to the Museum of Merneptah, then the enormous fortress temple of Ramesses I I I at Medinet Habu and the beautiful private tombs at Deir el Medina. This evening a visit to the mummifi cation museum. (B)

Day 7 – West Bank
To the Temple of Hatshepsut where we will explore all three levels. On to the Valley of the Kings and three specially chosen tombs to examine the signifi cance of the representations of the book of the dead, the weighing of the heart, the offering to the Gods. (B)
Day 8 – Luxor/London
Fly EgyptAir direct Luxor to London. (B)
