ASTRONOMY WORLD TOURS - RUSSIA ECLIPSE TOUR A

 

AWT has previously run eleven superbly successful tours to see the solar eclipse in Turkey, Libya, Iran and Egypt; carrying several hundred passengers, divided into smaller groups, for this truly memorable event. We are very proud of our eclipse tours and the outstanding group of specialists we work with. Each tour is accompanied by a recognised expert as well as a local guide who will help you get the most from your experience.

 

Day 1


Fly from London Heathrow via Moscow overnight to Novosibirsk with Transaero

 

Day 2

 

Arrive Novosibirsk for one night. This huge city has a pleasant and accessible centre and will make a tour that features the lovely squares and main buildings and also a really fascinating regional museum with Siberian mummies and a display on the sun

 

Day 3

 

Overnight train from Novosibirsk south towards the Altai Mountains and Barnaul

 

Day 4

 

Today we transfer to the charmingly provincial little town of Biysk

 

Day 5

 

A full day to explore in the Altai region as we head for Gorno-Altaisk through scenic vistas of amazing diversity and beauty.

 

Day 6

 

We have another full day to explore in the Altai region

 

Day 7

  

Today we travel to our lovely and specially chosen site to watch the eclipse from our special location with expert

 

Day 8

 

Return to Barnaul a very pleasant town to relax

 

Day 9

  

Depart for Novosibirsk and the flight back to London

We are very lucky to have an outstanding selection of experts lined up to accompany these eclipse tours and they include Sheridan Williams, respected scientist and lecturer; Giulio Del Zanna, Research Fellow Department of Space and Climate Physics University College London; Mike Beales, ex solar director of the BAA; Malcolm Coe, Senior Astronomer at Southampton University; Neil Bone, gold medal winning astronomer; Geoff Elston, a highly respected astronomer from the BAA, Ian Morison, Gresham Professor of Astronomy and Kevin Kilburn, Manchester Astronomical Society. At this stage we are not allocating individual experts to particular tours.
